incredible fishing destinations await

Bahamas Fishing / Diving

  • The fertile waters of the Bahamas offer great billfish action close to home.  The Abaco chain sits at the northern end of the Bahamas, and offers well-known and proven fishing grounds that most people recognize. Many famous billfish tournaments originated here, including the Bahamas Billfish Championship (see last photo in gallery for more info) and the Bertram/Hatteras Shootout, held for many years at Walker’s Cay, and more recently at Boat Harbour Marina in Marsh Harbour. The following Abaco locations still offer easy access to great fishing.

South Florida / Florida Keys

  • The islands are much more than flats fishing, with opportunities to troll, jig, or fish live baits on the drift or from kites. Stretching for more than 120 miles southwest from just below Miami is a string of 800 islands known as the Florida Keys, a coral archipelago that’s the only living-coral barrier reef in the United States. Certainly, for fishermen in the U.S., there’s no other place like the Keys in terms of its diversity of habitats and game fish, and a long- and well-established infrastructure to make anglers’ dreams come true.

Isla Mujeres

  • The little Mexican island of Isla Mujeres has already gained a reputation as one of the best places on earth to catch Atlantic sailfish, but it's also a great spot to bring the whole family.  Isla Mujeres, a small island off the east coast of Mexico, has generated big headlines in recent years, due to some incredible sailfish catches that have occurred there. Professional crews from the U.S. have racked up amazing catches, with one boat releasing over 100 fish in a single day last year. Where else can you hope to encounter Atlantic sailfish in numbers like that?

Anderson also serves as an International Representative for the IGFA and chairs the Rules and Recognition Committee of the IGFA’s North American Regional Council.

The things I love most about this business are the people I get to spend time with, the places we go, the quarry and the history of big game fishing, from the evolution of tackle to the modern technology of boats. I grew up looking at black and white photos of my Dad with marlin, giant tuna and many other notable catches.

I carry as much as I can remember of what I’ve learned from him  everywhere I fish in regards to techniques, methods, how-to, where-to, when-to, but I hope most of all that I will always carry his enthusiasm and take the time to reflect on the  great times fishing affords us as we so often do when we are together fishing or not!
